Spelling is something that I struggle with… and so does big brother. I don’t mean that we struggle to spell words… I mean that we get bored with it. I get bored with teaching it and he gets bored with learning. He is an incredible reader with a huge vocabulary. I do think that he needs to slow down and learn fundamentals, but I also think he needs to be challenged.
I am using the third grade spelling word list provided by our local homeschool association this year. I have been on the search for ways to make spelling more fun and less monotonous.
Here are a few of the pins I’ve printed:
I came across THIS PIN, but when I tried to click through, it said the blog could not longer be found… so I just made my own… and now you can have it too:

Big Brother saw me laminating the roll and spell and tic tac toe. He begged me for some words to write. He was so excited. He loved the rolling the die and writing in so many different ways. I wasn’t planning on starting school for a couple more weeks, but he is seriously begging me and has decided that we should start on Monday… so… ready or not, he we go!
I am looking forward to this school year. Big Sis will be a little more with us and we are joining with some other families for our first co-op. I’ll be posting our 2012-2013 curriculum next week. I know you’re on the edge of your seat.
I hope you find this printable useful. I do enjoy feedback!
